My emotions are like a forestβ not the tidy kind with marked trails, but the kind that grows wild and unkempt, holding its secrets tightly within; some mornings, it is full of light, when darkness slowly lifts to reveal possibilities, quiet and bright; other days, the trees huddle close together, while the air is heavy, and every step feels uncertain; but still, things grow hereβ moss over old wounds, small flowers where the sun finds its way in; underneath it all the roots hold everything togetherβ deep, patient, alive.
This resonated! The imagery of things still growing, the sun finding its way through, and the roots holding everything together gives this such a meaningful lift. Next time the trees huddle closer, I will remember this. <3
This is stunning. Your emotions as a wild forest feels like such a true and living image, untidy, shadowed, growing, and still held together underneath.
The path through those trees
winds, twisting this way and that
the light shimmering and finding its own way,
not straight, but forced to bend and reflect,
illuminating every mote.
.
There is a scent of spicy loam,
and the rich leaves
that are of yesterdayβs memory,
some sweet, some bitter,
all mingled together as feet tread lightly,
on the paths smooth surface.
.
And unlike the sea, changeable but flat,
the forest stands high and proud,
each timber a lightning rod,
waiting to be struck,
electricity drawn from the sky,
with a rush of heart beats,
the crackle of electricity finding life.
Love this!
I am sorry I was delayed in posting a response. I had meant to do it several days ago when it came out, but you know how things are sometimes.
Absolutely no need to apologise. I love reading your responses, whenever you post them.

Thank you!
Beautiful, I also find healing in the forest. I felt called to share with you my recent poem about the magic and medicine of the woods.

What a beautifully rich scene. I felt like I could smell the air and feel the cool humidity as I walked through.

I, too, feel the forest within. You captured that so well.
Thank you, Denise!
My pleasure!
I felt this one, Jo. Moss, trees, roots. It is wonderful to be the ocean, but yes, it is magical to be a forest too πΏ
Yes! Thank you for reading. π³
Wow, love that. "I'm not the sea" (me: or the sun) "today, I'm a forest."π³
