Submissions Now Open
Poetic Reveries Magazine
I am very excited to announce that submissions are now open for the August issue of Poetic Reveries Magazine. The theme is “Postcards from Somewhere”.
We are looking for poetry of a maximum of 40 lines long, or prose of no more than 1,000 words. Submissions must be in document format, so we can copy your words and paste them straight into the magazine to avoid omissions or mistakes.
“Postcards from somewhere” feels like a mix of travel, memory, and perspective—so we would expect to see poems or prose that read like snapshots sent from moments, places, or states of mind. The “somewhere” can be literal or symbolic.
Here are some directions the theme naturally invites:
Physical places
• Cities, landscapes, or specific locations (a rainy street in Paris, a quiet seaside town, a train station at dawn).
• Tourist vs. local perspectives.
• The contrast between expectation and reality of a place.
Moments in time
• A “postcard” from childhood, a past relationship, or a turning point.
• Capturing a fleeting instant (sunset, goodbye, first arrival).
• Nostalgia—what’s remembered vs. what actually happened.
Emotional or internal places
• “Somewhere” as a feeling: grief, love, loneliness, healing.
• Writing from inside a mental state (anxiety, hope, peace).
• Personal growth—letters from who you used to be.
Imagined or surreal places
• Dreamscapes, fantasy worlds, or abstract “locations”.
• Postcards from the future or alternate realities.
• Symbolic spaces (like “the edge of forgetting” or “the middle of nowhere”).
Distance and connection
• Messages sent across physical or emotional distance.
• Longing, missing someone, or trying to reach them.
• What gets said vs. what’s left unsaid in a “postcard”.
Identity and belonging
• Feeling out of place or finding home somewhere unexpected.
• Cultural roots, migration, or displacement.
• “Where are you from?” as a deeper question.
Small details as anchors
• Postcards are brief, so poems might zoom in on tiny, vivid details—
a smell, a sound, a single image that represents the whole “somewhere”.
Please ensure your submission adheres to the theme. While we hate to reject submissions, we will if we cannot relate your work to the theme in any way - no matter how good it is.
If you would like to submit your work, you can do so here. The deadline is Sunday 5th July 2026, but we will close submissions early if we have received enough to fill the magazine - so please don’t delay in submitting.
If you haven’t seen a previous issue, and are wondering what Poetic Reveries Magazine looks like, you can see our April issue here.
We are hoping to evolve the magazine later in the year, and possibly even publish it on Amazon/KDP, but this next issue will follow our usual format, which is digital only.
Our first poetry anthology, Daydreams & Lost Wishes, can be found here.
I hope to see your submissions soon.

OMG Yes... JO 👌
Silly little question - do you include line breaks as lines in the 40 lines max? No worries if so; I'll kill my darling to make it work.
