My greatest enemy does not lurk in graveyards or wait beneath the moon. It lives within the house of my mind, wandering candlelit corridors, trailing shadows through every room. It knows where the old wounds are buried. It knows which memories still ache when touched. It speaks in familiar voices, whispering every doubt I have ever tried to silence. The creature I fear most wears my own face. And that is what makes it dangerousβ it knows the way inside.
So true. We suffer the same enemy. Take heart that you're not alone.
Thank you for reading, Kathy.
Me, too. π«
Love this piece, letβs connect!πΈ
Iβve always told my family and friends that βI am my own worst enemyβ. Then later on, I think it was Pink, the singer, that came out with a song that had that line in it and I was so relieved to know that I havenβt been the only person to ever feel that way. I completely relate and I love the way youβve written this out into words like this! Youβre very talented. Thank you for sharing. β€οΈβπ©Ήπ
